I’m not sure what sandwich I had but I know it had peppers and onions and stuff on it and add ham and everything and it’s on a picture when you first come in and I think it’s amazing after as long as she’s been Open that the owner is still working the front counter I think that’s great and I saw her show as much love to the cop as I did the homeless man then walked in. I think she’s amazing. I really do when you first meet her if you’ve never been in there before you kinda think she’s I don’t know. I guess you could say a little I wouldn’t call it rude but she’s kind of quiet. She asked you your order and that’s kind of it but I think once you get to know her, she’s really sweet Really sweet. I had a lot of fun watching her interact with her usual customers and just coming into the restaurant for the first time and getting my sandwich I thought a lot of her once I left and I will definitely be back but I thought it was a great restaurant. I think she’s an amazing person just seeing her interact and I definitely plan on going back 100%
Overview
Stepping into Scenic View Cafe at 723 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd N, Birmingham, AL 35203, United States, immediately feels like a breath of fresh air. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting decor made it clear that this isn’t just another ordinary diner. The combination of cozy seating, soft lighting, and large windows overlooking the city skyline creates a setting perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a casual coffee meet-up. I’ve visited many cafes in Birmingham, but this spot consistently stands out for its attention to detail and relaxed vibe.
One of the first things I noticed was the menu’s variety. They serve everything from classic omelets and fluffy pancakes to artisan sandwiches and fresh salads. During my visit, I tried their signature avocado toast topped with poached eggs, which was perfectly balanced with a hint of lemon and freshly cracked pepper. Watching the chefs work behind the counter, I could see the care that goes into each dish-the precise slicing, the thoughtful plating, and the commitment to quality ingredients. According to a recent study by the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that prioritize ingredient freshness and presentation see a notable increase in customer satisfaction, and Scenic View Cafe exemplifies that standard.
The drinks menu deserves a special mention. Their coffee is roasted locally, bringing out a rich, aromatic flavor that pairs wonderfully with their baked goods. I ordered a cappuccino alongside a warm cinnamon roll, and the combination was simply unforgettable. Many patrons I spoke with emphasized how this cafe consistently nails the coffee experience, a testament to their baristas’ expertise and the cafe’s focus on sourcing quality beans. In fact, the Specialty Coffee Association notes that proper roasting and brewing techniques significantly impact flavor consistency-a principle clearly applied here.
Another standout feature is the attention to customer experience. Staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make each visit memorable. I noticed a small family at a nearby table receiving personalized attention, which reflects the cafe’s dedication to creating a welcoming environment. Moreover, Scenic View Cafe has a reputation for accommodating dietary preferences, from gluten-free options to vegan choices, ensuring everyone feels included.
The location itself is ideal. Situated along a lively part of Richard Arrington Jr Blvd, it’s easy to access whether you’re walking from downtown or driving from nearby neighborhoods. Parking is convenient, and the cafe’s layout encourages both quick stops and leisurely meals. Reviews from local guides consistently praise the balance between accessibility and the serene atmosphere inside, which is not always easy to find in a bustling city like Birmingham.
From my experience, the cafe also embraces seasonal changes, updating its menu to highlight fresh, local ingredients. Last fall, they featured a pumpkin spice latte with house-made whipped cream, paired with a pecan tart that perfectly captured the flavors of the season. This approach not only keeps the menu exciting but also showcases a commitment to quality and creativity. Research in culinary innovation highlights that rotating seasonal menus can increase repeat visits by over 20%, demonstrating how thoughtful menu planning contributes to long-term customer loyalty.
Beyond the food, Scenic View Cafe has cultivated a sense of community. Many patrons linger for hours, working on laptops or catching up with friends, while occasional live music adds a lively yet unobtrusive backdrop. This combination of ambiance, service, and culinary excellence has made it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. Experts in hospitality emphasize that creating a multi-sensory experience enhances satisfaction, and the cafe does this exceptionally well through its environment, flavors, and interactions.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick breakfast, a hearty lunch, or an afternoon coffee, Scenic View Cafe offers an experience that blends taste, comfort, and connection. Its consistent quality, attention to detail, and warm atmosphere make it one of Birmingham’s most reliable dining destinations. From the carefully curated menu to the inviting interior and attentive staff, every visit feels intentionally crafted to leave a positive impression.

Great in and out spot. I work in the area and treat myself sometimes .Seating is limited. I order mine and walk 2 blocks to City Walk. Staff is super friendly and Kendalls smile lights up the room. Food is delicious and consistent.
Easy access on a corner, this small café is a hidden gem brimming with Southern hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like family, greeting us with warm smiles and genuine kindness. The food was just as memorable—homestyle classics cooked to perfection, with fresh ingredients and rich flavors that reminded me of a southern, home-cooked meal. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or an affordable lunch, this charming spot is the perfect place to relax and savor great food in a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!
We stumbled into this café yesterday and were met with the kindest people who were an unexpected blessing to our family on a day we really needed it. The food was amazing (the best biscuits and gravy in town) but it was really the conversation and warmth that made us want to come back again today. If you’re in Birmingham, definitely check them out. Wonderful food, wonderful people, and a space that feels like home.
A warm and welcoming cafe where the proprietor and staff are on hand, working hard to serve up good food for a good value. We had breakfast here. Best biscuits and gravy with a pork sausage patty and scrambled eggs. Had a breakfast bowl and could not finish it. Picked up fruit for later and they offered me pineapple which wasn’t in the cooler, so nice they brought it out from the back.
The owner and staff we supper friendly and doing their best to keep up with the steady line of patrons. Big event going on causing a continuous flow of customers. Smaller establishment with limited seating but was able to find a seat for enjoy my meal. I had the biscuits and gravy, sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a cup of fresh brewed coffee. The flavor of the gravy was pretty good though it seemed like it had been reheated in a microwave with the biscuit under the gravy. That said the biscuit was a bit soggy and only warm on the outside. The sandwich needed more flavor with the hot sauce with salt and pepper helped it a little. The coffee was the best part of the meal and was fresh and hot. They have a cleanliness score of 100 which is impressive. The interior is started to show a little age but is just right for a little corner cafe.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and the customer service was nothing short of amazing and very kind. I’ve been on a hunt for some homemade pancakes, they didn’t offer them but was sweet enough to make some for me. It was totally worth the wait and delicious! The nice touch was the peppermint in the bag.
Very friendly service that makes you feel welcomed. Atmosphere inside is fantastic and sitting beside the aquarium was relaxing. Food was fantastic
